RODERICK CLIVE SELBY

[1924-1999]Roderick Clive SELBY was born September 23, 1924 in Toronto, Ont. and died Feb. 21, 1999 in Summerland, B.C. He grew up in Beamsville, ON, a fruit growing area. He married Ruth Jewel Hunt at Beamsville, ON., on May 5, 1953. They had three children, Richard Robin, Brenda Maureen and Patrick.

Rod retired from the airforce, after 25 years and moved to Summerland in 1971. He worked at the Penticton Airport Control tower until his second retirement.

Rod was a director of the Thompson-Okanagan Branch of the UELAC.

Rod was a proud and proven descendant of Andrew Miller, UE, who kept a tavern on the Niagara River Road and is buried at Fort Erie, Ont.

Andrew MILLER was born October 1766 in USA and died January 30, 1843 in Fort Erie, Canada. He married Elizabeth Everett/Everitt in 1790 in Niagara Falls. They had eleven children including son John Burch MILLER.

John Burch MILLER was born on January 20, 1792 in Fort Erie ON. and died December 7, 1892 in St. Thomas, ON. He married Elizabeth Miller in 1815 at Fort Erie. They had nine children including John MILLER.

John MILLER was born August 20, 1831 in St. Thomas, ON. and died in St. Thomas on March 9,1911. He married Eliza FACER in Clarkson, Mich., USA on May 3 1860. They had six children including Ellen MILLER.

Ellen MILLER was born on April 31, 1861 in St. Thomas, ON. She died October 8 1925 in Toronto, Ont. Ellen married Richard Herriott McBRIDE on February 24 1892, in St. Thomas, On.

Their daughter, Ethel Lorinne McBRIDE, was born April 10, 1893 in St. Thomas, ON she died April 11, 1985 in Beamsville, On. On October 7, 1915 she married John Percival Logan SELBY.
