History

Formed 1981 after the demise of The Rollers. Duncan Faure (guitar) , Stuart Wood (bass, keyboards) and Gary Garibaldi (drums). The band was originally to be called Rattler.

Band's name officially became Karu. Ritchie Hall becaomes the drummer.
1983 thier first and only album is released in Japan called Karu Cuts. Three singles were released LA Girl in Japan, Where is the Music (which reached #2 on the charts) and That Girl's a Heartache in South Africa). A video was also recorded of the song Where is the Music.

Late 1983 Ritchie Hall leaves the band and is replaced with Neil Cloud former band mate of Duncan's from Rabbitt. Plans were made to rerecord Karu Cuts with Neil. This never did happen.

One of the things working against the band was Duncan being from South Africa. During this time nations around the world were putting severe restrictions on South Africans. Work visa's were difficult to obtain. This alone cause tour plans to be rescheduled, and Duncan's exclusion in the Bay City Roller reunions.
