Club History

The club was started in January of 1995, at that time it was call the Aldergrove Flying Propnuts. Started with ten members, two of which are still members. When the new executive went to open the bank account for the club, the woman who did the paper work laughed so hard at the name, that it was changed to the Aldergrove Propnuts Club.

At that time the club flew from a farmers field, sharing the field with cows that at times had to be chased off the runway to allow someone to land. About a year later the club moved to a location on Simpson Road.
This new field, although much better, still had problems in that to land in a westerly direction the pilot had to come over a small hill and drop down onto the field. In July 1997 the club opened up its new field, running  north and south. This being the direction of most of the wind in the area, made for much better landing and takeoff in windy conditions.
This Location was enjoyed until December 2006, at which time we had to search for a new field.

After long and exhaustive search by a few club members we were able to find the present field. Again we are in the Aldergrove area and working to set up the field.

In July 1997, some of the club members worked to get the club registered as a non profit society with the Province of British Columbia. This again required a slight name change to the "Aldergrove Propnuts RC Flying Club" and gave the club non profit society status with British Columbia. The Club was officially incorporated on August 05, 1997.

Since starting with ten members in January 1995, the club has grown , At our largest we had nearly 50 members. Our current limit is 35 Members.  We may plan to increase that number again once we see what the present field provides.
