The confidential accounts led to a sensational warning from the US Defense Security Service, an agency of the Defense Department, that mysterious coins with radio frequency transmitters were found planted on U.S. contractors with classified security clearances on at least three separate occasions between October 2005 and January 2006 as the contractors traveled through Canada.

The World's First Coloured Circulation Coin. The Royal Canadian Mint has unveiled the world's first coloured circulation coin dubbed the "Poppy Quarter" for and with the partnership of the Royal Canadian Legion. The 25-cent circulation coin features a red poppy (Canada's flower of Remembrance) which symbol pays homeage to our nearly 117,000 brave and courageous Canadians who died in the service for our country. Marking the 90th Anniversary of the beginning of World War I, and the 60th Anniversary of D-Day, the year of 2004 will be remembered even more so because of the "Poppy Quarter".
