Who is this woman and why is she holding a tray of teeth and claws?

 

Fran Benton is a multimedia artist who lives in Victoria B.C. Canada. Fran works with a variety of materials and processes mostly in sculpture and video. Lately she has been exploring ways to produce her work outside in relationship to the public and public places. This illustration is from a recent performance where Fran gave away thousands of ceramic teeth and claws. Fran works at Malaspina University College in Nanaimo B.C. Canada.

Some of Fran's work includes documentary and experimental video. Her video "Silver Rush" tells the story of Sandon British Columbia, a ghost town located in the Kootenays. Silver Rush will be released and available for purchase soon.

Fran's current documentary is "One Less Orchid ". It tells the story of the depletion of the Garry Oak Meadow ecosystem through over development in a small municipality adjacent to Victoria B.C.
