I remember the smell of the barber shop.  I remember the tall bottles on the shelf over the barber's sink - red, green and sometimes yellow.
I remember the smell of shaving lather.
I remember the barber with a very, very sharp straight razor in his hand.
No wonder so many men grew beards.

do you remember when there were pool tables in the barber shop?

Or was it barber chairs in the pool hall?

I remember playing pool while my friends got their hair cut and them playing pool while I got my hair cut.

I don't remember any distinguished looking gentlemen or ladies in pool halls in those days.

pin ball machine c.1940 DO YOU REMEMBER THE LITTLE WOODEN PIN BALL MACHINES?

I remember pin ball machines in the pool halls but they were bigger and stronger than this light weight wooden one.
I remember the roughnecks that played the pin ball machines.  They would have beaten this one to kindling.
I also remember that they were good guys who just didn't know their own strength.
