do you remember lighting your way to bed with a candle? I remember to keep matches and a candle in this holder for when the lights go out. I wish that when the lights went out I could remember where I put it.

 
 
  

do you remember flashlights that never needed batteries? I remember these generator flashlights were made in Holland. I remember being told that the Dutch called them "Knipecut" even if I don't remember how to spell it. I remember that Knipecut means "Pinch Cat" and they were called that because you squeezed or pinched them and they purred like a cat.

do you remember using kerosene lamps for lighting? I remember these lamps being hung on barricades at night so we wouldn't drive into excavations. Mostly I remember hissing, spitting BRIGHT gasoline lights.

do you remember cooking on a sterno stove? I remember cooking on a one burner Sterno stove. I remember it was slooooow. I remember the smell of the alcohol fumes.

do you remember when you last had a fondue? I remember the fondue craze when everybody was having fondues. At our house, we still have fondues once in a while (I hope my cardiologist and dietician don't read this!)
