Glass Milk Bottles pre 1970 DO YOU REMEMBER WHEN MILK CAME IN GLASS BOTTLES?

I remember square bottles like the one at far left from Union Milk in Calgary.
I remember "Standard" milk with two inches of cream on the top.
I remember sneaking rides on the back step of the milkman's horse drawn cart.


 

DO YOU REMEMBER WHEN QUILTS WERE FOR SLEEPING UNDER?
Now they are works of art.
We hang them on our walls.
Our walls stay comfy and warm while we freeze under broken electric blankets.

DO YOU REMEMBER WHEN SEWING MACHINES HAD TREADLES?
Mine still does.
Grandma gave me her old Singer treadle almost half a century ago.
And I still use it.

 
DO YOU REMEMBER WHEN TOY TRAINS WERE MADE OUT OF TIN PLATE?

And they had names like Hafner, Marx and Lionel?
Do you remember winding and winding with a big key, and then they raced around the track like mad?

Wood Range c. 1950?? DO YOU REMEMBER THE WOOD RANGE THAT SAT IN THE KITCHEN?

Do you remember chopping the wood?
Do you remember hauling the ashes?
Do you remember the cook putting her hand in the oven to see if it was slow or fast?
Do you remember the delicious pies and meals it cooked?
I remember the friendly, slightly smoky smell it gave the house on cold winter days.
I remember standing with my back to the open oven door after coming in from winter chores.

I remember borrowing my sister's roller skates.  I remember losing the key.  I don't think she has forgiven me yet.
