Important!
If
your school has MathPower 12 books that were published in the year
2000 or so, there are errors in the text that you must know about!
The biggest problem is that the "continuity correction" is not
included in the section for the "normal approximation to the
binomial" and the answers in the text are incorrect as a result.
The
revisions take care of all the problems, and any school with a revised
version is just fine!
if
you are not sure,
look
on page 368 - if there are pictures of dice listed as outcomes, then you
have the revised version
look
on page 371 - if there is NO tree diagram, you have the revised version.
If you
do not have the revised
version, contact Erin Pope-Sebal at McGraw-Hill erinp@mcgrawhill.ca
the
deal with the Publisher at the time was that they would send you a free
"Module" for every textbook that you had ordered that wasn't
revised.
The
"Module" is just the revised chapters 8 and 9 - it is small and
a convenient size.
I
use it every year - when we finish chapter seven, my students exchange
their textbook for a "Module" - and that's that! it's
easy!
hope
this helps! pass it on!
