Paul Brandt - There's A World Out There
My name is Tim Duthie and I live in Airdrie, Alberta, Canada. I grew up in a small town, Linden, 90 km (55 miles) northeast of Calgary. Over the last couple of years, I've ridden in a number of amateur rodeos in Central Alberta. Take a look at my rodeo pages for more. (2001 Season, 2000 Season, '99 Season, '98 Season, '97 Season) and my cousin Jordan's rodeo journal (Jordan's Rodeo Journal).
This web page is an ego-centered page (mostly) about me!! Who I am, what I do, and where I'm going. You'll find some links to some of my redneck interests, information about some of my adventures in life. If this site isn't what you expected and you don't want to read all about me click here.
Not surprisingly, this is the most common question I'm asked. (Well, second to "Are you NUTS?".) Unlike a lot of cowboys, I did not grow up dreaming of being a bull-rider. Many times in my life I wished that I was a hockey player or basketball player. Although my favorite rodeo events have always been bull riding and calf roping, my personal interest in bull-riding was spurred by Chris Ledoux's song "Hooked on an 8 Second Ride". After seeing the movie "8 Seconds", I got a book called "Gold Buckle" by Jeff Coplon. In the first chapter the author tells of his first experience on a bull at a rodeo school. Since then, I knew that this was something I had to do. I finally realized that I could spend my whole life dreaming or give it a try, so I signed up for rodeo school and I've loved every moment since!!
I used to always say that if I ran off and joined the circus, my mother would support me. Well, I did something worse, I started rodeoin'!! Thanks for the support Mom!!
