You will need a program like WinZip to open these files.

In trying to create an HTML Menu for a CD, I ran into a couple of problems:

  1. When clicking on an .exe file, Internet Explorer would display a message box asking if I want to run or save the file.
  2. Using Windows XP SP2, the information bar would block the javascript on the page, unless I clicked on the information bar to allow active content

I tried a couple of commercial products that were designed to proved HTML menus for CD's, however, I could not find one that prevents the .exe open or save dialog.  Therefore, I created my HTMLMenu program.  This program uses Internet Explorer to display a HTML page.  If any links are the page are to local .exe files, the program will stop Internet Explorer and run the executable.  Works like a charm!

Multiple User Screen Saver Utility

Windows 9x, ME allow only one screen saver to be selected for all user profiles.  (See Microsoft KB #174442: All Users Have the Same Screen Saver.)  This freeware utility saves the screen saver for each user profile and updates the SYSTEM.INI with the user's screen saver.

The program runs in the system tray.  When run the first, the program will automatically run at startup on all profiles.
