  Sioux Falls, South Dakota

Having a short drive today from Brookings to Sioux Falls, we enjoyed a leisurely drive along some
quiet South Dakota back roads.  The lush green fields spread across the gently rolling countryside
showed signs of it being a good crop year for the farmers of this region.

We arrived early in Sioux Falls, so we had time to pay a visit to the falls of the Big Sioux River which
give the city it's name.  The surrounding parkland provided us and other visitors with an opportunity
to enjoy a pleasant walk.

At the home of our gracious host Andrine, who provided us with comfortable accomodations overnight.

The evening event was held in Terrace Park which had a lovely fishing pond where local kids dipped
their poles and tried their luck at catching supper.

The South Dakota Peace and Justice Center, Pax Christi and A.N.S.W.E.R. all participated in the
organization of the public event in Sioux Falls.

Materials from the Pastors for Peace were on display, along with T shirts and DVDs

Photos from past Cuba Caravans showed what it's like to be a Caravanista.

The 20th anniversary T shirts are very attractive!

And on the back, they show the seven point P4P program.

Juan Bonilla, publisher of La Vos Hispana, joined us for the evening.

Flowers from a local garden decorated the picnic tables

Then it was time to enjoy the pot luck supper

Like so many of the other pot luck suppers we have enjoyed, this one was excellent!

Jim chats with some of the local supporters before the program begins

Deb acted as emcee and welcomed all to the event

Juan shared with us some of the achievements of the local Latin American
community, and offered support for the Pastors for Peace effort to normalize
relations between the US and Cuba.
