I am seeking to search for unique teaching experiences within Edmonton Catholic Schools this
September. I am continuing to search for new opportunities in Junior High
and/or Elementary to continue to upgrade my teaching skills, broaden my horizons in education and to
support my teaching lessons with interactive web pages that students can access
at home.
Junior and Senior High (St. Mary Junior and Senior
High School, 1971 - 1981)
- I've taught Art, Language Arts, Physical Education and Social Studies at
the Junior High and High School levels.
- I also served as an Audio Visual representative for St. Mary's for 10
years, maintaining and distributing audio visual equipment for the school
and teachers.
- I also coached Junior High basketball teams and participated in Junior
and Senior High intramural sports.
Grade Six Homeroom Teacher (St. Clement Elementary
and Junior High, 1981-1996)
- I taught all courses primarily to Grade Six homerooms and taught French,
Music and Science to Grade Five.
- I ran intramural and extramural sports programs, coached sports teams and
also refereed games for the sixteen years I worked at St. Clement.
- I produced and directed over sixteen drama musical presentations,
primarily with my homeroom students and several other classes that chose to
join us. These musical theatre shows were presented to the community
as Spring Productions. On several occasions we took musical excerpts
to Kiwanis Music Festival and to the Edmonton Catholic's Celebrations of the
Arts. These shows ranged from Oliver to Lion King, Wizard of Oz,
Camelot, Annie, Big River and Joseph and His Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
Grade Three/Five/Six Homeroom Teacher (St. Richard Elementary
School, St. Elizabeth School 1996 - 2006 )
- While at St. Richards I taught Grade Five Homeroom, and pretty much all
courses from French to Music and Science at Grade Five and Six Levels.
- I continued to work with six school musical whole school productions and
with volunteer help developed and constructed a school theatre on the
stage. These productions were also taken to The Celebration of the
Arts and several other special presentations.
- I continued to work with school intramural and extramural sports and
staged basketball and volleyball weekend tournaments at the School in four
consecutive years.
- I also maintain and set up the school's sound system and produce and
project the sound for school religious and musical presentations (as well as
school dances). I also provide the musical accompaniment for the
school's musical concerts.
- While at St. Richards I started to take my teaching online with web page
support for my classes and daily lesson plan outlines to keep parents and
students at home to keep in touch. Here's my teaching home page:
http://tinyurl.com/5t5ch
I've also helped several teachers create their own web pages. Recently
for example I helped Rollie Miles at St. Catharine create his home page: http://members.shaw.ca/vict/miles.htm
I'd like to find opportunities to continue in these same directions as I
feel that there's a great potential for computer assisted learning in the
years to come.
- Lately I've done extensive work to support my teaching through media and
have created over 1000 Power Point documents in all courses from Mathematics
to Religion to Art and Language and Science and Social Studies.
Other Related Experiences (1969 to present)
- I worked for seven summers as a surveyor's assistant for Alberta
Transportation.
- I've received training as a Boy Scout and assisted with Scouting programs
for many years.
- I've worked with Summer Youth Camps for over 16 summers.
- I've accompanied church music for over 25 years and also provided special
music on numerous occasions. I've also performed wedding music and
funeral music on several occasions and have directed a church choir.
- Lately I've been working as a volunteer for the Lion's Club of Sherwood
Park.
