The Illusions Social Club is Calgary's predominant transgender organization. The site has links to many members' sites, providing the possibility for a TG person to make contact with someone local. Most of the members are crossdressers, though there are also several MTF TSs.

This is the U of C's page on transgenderism. It includes a glossary of terms.

Transgender Forum is the best-known electronic magazine for TG people. It has some features available free to non-subscribers. A subscription is US$25 per year. Mostly oriented towards male crossdressers, but also useful for MTF TSs.

            Tri-Ess is a US organization exclusively for heterosexual crossdressers.

Crossroads Magazine

Zenith Digest

A Vancouver-based publication for transsexuals. Box 46, 8415 Granville St., Vancouver, BC V6P 4Z9. Web page at www.zenithfoundation.ca  deals with TS workplace issues, among others. $24 a year

TG Support Group

A Calgary group which meets twice a month. Organized by a local psychologist with a large TG practice. Contact dedetg@hotmail.com.

 

Medical Information

The web mistress of this site is an MD who is also a post-op MTF TS. It has by far the most comprehensive collection of medical information on transsexuality, including post-operative pictures of surgical results. She will answer questions from helping professionals.

This is the web site of Drs. Menard and Brassard in Montreal, the surgeons who do the vast majority of the gender reassignment surgery in Canada. Shows the surgical techniques used with line drawings.

Dr. Toby Meltzer is considered by many to be one of the top two surgeons doing GRS in North America. After considerable research I chose him to do my surgery.

Has the latest  version of the HBIGDA Standards of Care. The Harry Benjamin International Gender Dysphoria Association establishes the guidelines used by almost all practitioners (surgeons, psychologists, psychiatrists, endocrinologists, etc.) when treating transsexuals.
