Teri's Transgender Page

I am a transsexual woman living in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I went full-time June 19, 1999 and had

my gender reassignment surgery (GRS) with Dr. Toby Meltzer in Portland, Oregon on June 15, 2000.

WORDS TO LIVE BY:

"I might as well be hyper

As long as I'm still around

'Cause I'll have lots of time to be laid back

When I'm six feet underground"

Latest News: March 23, 2004

I don’t update this site very often any more, since I consider the transition part of my life to be such ancient history it barely seems real to me. However, I continue to speak to various interested groups and you can still feel free to e-mail me. The TG community is no longer a top priority for me, but I still keep my ties alive.

February 22-23, 2003 I was an invited participant at the National Association of Women and the Law’s National Consultation on Transgender and Women’s Substantive Equality. This was a meeting of about 40 representatives of the transgender community and women’s groups who met to discuss how best to approach the issue of strengthening the equality rights of transgendered persons. The atmosphere was very positive and I got to meet some of Canada’s most famous TG folks (not all of whom, I might add, sought that “fame”).

I have just posted three new (December, 2002) photos. See photos2001.htm below. Sorry, I can’t figure out hyperlinks in this new version of Word.)

Stephen and I are now married! We did a pre-marital course on April 13, 2002 and then decided it was time to firm things up. On May 13 we ordered our rings. For the story of our wedding and honeymoon, with photos, please see: wedding.htm

On October 18, 2002 I started the process of adopting Stephen’s last name. This may sound very traditional, but it’s important to me. Besides, by a fluke, his last name is the same as my father’s mother’s maiden name, so it’s a name that has been in my family anyway.

In April, 2002 we went on a “garage tour” with the local vintage sports car club—in a genuine 1968 Leyland double-decker bus.

Stephen asked me to marry him on Saturday, October 20, 2001. For all the details about that please see: proposal.htm

I have been somewhat remiss in updating this site due to time constraints over the past few months. However, a major update should happen in late-April-early May.

I have also updated the section on post-op sex below.

Here are some highlights of what I have been up to over the past few months:

*In late July, 2001 I attended an annual conference held by my church in Asilomar, California (near Monterey), then stayed with friends just north of San Francisco. While I was down there I also got to visit to other Religious Scientists who are TSs. They had contacted me through my web site and this was our first in-person meeting.

*In August my partner Stephen and I went on our first holiday together. We drove down to Denver to attend a harmonica convention, then on the way back stopped at the Little Bighorn Battlefield in Montana, introduced Stephen to my Dad and stepmother in northwestern Montana, spent three days at his family's cabin on the east side of Lake Kootenay in British Columbia and visited his sister in a nearby hot spring resort.

*Over the summer I met and got on good terms with all of Stephen's siblings.

*I spent a lot of time cleaning out the basement and the rest of the house to make room for Stephen to move his things here (we have been effectively living together for months, but his stuff is still at his old place).

*I have continued to have electrolysis: another two hours on my brows, 1 1/4 hours on my face, 1 3/4 hours on my chest, 14 hours on my tummy and a half hour on my genitals (as of October 22, 2001).

*I started back teaching on Tuesday, September 11, 2001.

*Stephen and I attended a vintage car show September 15 which gave me my first chance to ride in Stephen's Messerschmitt (the little red car shown above). We won first prize in the "Other European" category.

* I gave a paper at a conference on Japanese Studies in Saskatoon Oct 12.

*On October 17, 2001 I cancelled a facelift I had scheduled for December 12, 2001. I felt it was not really necessary at this time and wanted to focus on improvng my finances.

*October 31-Nov 4, 2001 I did a presentation on my university's Positive Spaces anti-homophobia, anti-transphobia campaign at the biennial conference of the Harry Benjamin International Gender Dysphoria Association (HBIGDA).

*In the fall of 2001 and winter of 2002 I did a total of five sessions of diversity training on transgender issues for the Calgary Police Service's new recruits.

(A concerned reader suggested I delete these because they might give someone (especially potential suitors) the wrong impression about the kind of girl I am. I am a lot more conservative than they might suggest, but upon reflection I decided to leave them up. I'm not ashamed of or embarrassed about any part of my past. And as it turned out, when I met my soulmate, Stephen, he was not concerned about those photos at all!)

My Club: The Illusions Social Club in Calgary is for all transgendered people (crossdressers, transsexuals, etc., both MTF and FTM). Illusions Calgary

My Clothes: Nowadays I mostly buy my street clothes from Tall Girl, but when I was more into glam clothes I got them custom-made by a local Calgary business which is now known as Barbie's Shop. All the clothes I am wearing in the older pictures of me as a crossdresser were made by her and her team. She also made my wedding dress. Her website is now:

My Friends: This page has an ever-expanding series of links to the Web pages of friends of mine as fast as I can get it set up! friends.htm

I should also mention my good friend, Calgary's premier makeup artist and entertainer, Ty Morgan, who taught me everything I know about makeup. Thanks, Ty! (and get a home page so I can link to it!)

I would be especially interested in hearing from other tall TSs or academic T* folks. Iam married, so I'm not interested in proposals of a sexual nature. Please save the wear and tear on your keyboard!

(I started this counter over again at zero on January 24, 1999, 8PM MST because I had to change my URL due to an "upgrade" by the service provider. Between December 20, 1998 and January 24, 1999 I had had 541 hits at the old URL. In the week after my pictorial appeared in TG Forum January 25, 1999 I got almost 500 hits!)

If you live in some oppressive country, territory, state or province that makes it illegal for you to view transgender material, whether in general or because of your age, do us both a favour and don't do anything that could get you and or me in trouble. There are no photos involving nudity or sex acts here, but there is frank discussion of all kinds of sensitive topics related to transgenderism, crossdressing and transsexualism.
