Home Construction Photo Gallery

Construction began in June of 2002.  The property is a wooded lot about 8 acres in size.  City water was available but no sewage so a septic field had to be built.  We sat the house fairly high on ground level only digging about three feet for the footings.  The excavated dirt was then place around the foundation giving us a five foot deep footing.  This was done to assist with drainage.  The soil is very sandy with exceptional drainage but also has a fairly high water table.  In fact in the first photo we are burying the water cable at about 9 feet and water was pouring into the trench at that depth.  Anything less than five though and the water table is fine.  Even during construction with no roof, water never stayed inside the foundation walls.  You can follow construction with the thumbnails.  Click on a thumbnail for a bigger picture.
