This battle scene is my entry in the contest sponsored by JoshWedin on Classic-Castle.Com.
The Black Falcons are trying a surprise attack on the Baron of Stackton. Their goal is this strategically placed small fortified bridge over the River Stack held by the Baron's men.
The Falcons make a rush for the bridge hopeing to be across and in control of the bridge before reinforcements arrive from the garrison of the town of Stackton.
The lead troops quickly overpower the lone guard on their side of the bridge and make a rush for the far side expecting little resistance.
Sadly for the attackers the Baron's men have been informed of the attack and extra men have been secretly posted on and near the bridge. The extra men on the bridge prepare to hold the attackers at the gate while reinforcements hidden nearby are already rushing towards the sounds of battle.
While heavily armed defenders rush to the bridge, well-placed crossbowmen and archers begin firing into the flanks of the attackers.
This battle will prove to be a major embarassment for the Lord of the Black Falcons.
Thanks for looking.
