Canadian Parents For French - Special General Meeting

Parents interested in rejuvenating CPF- Vancouver are asked to attend a SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING OF CPF *7:00 pm - Thursday, February 28, 2008 at Kitsilano Secondary School** 2550 West 10th Avenue V6K 2J6*

With the immediate concerns around seismic upgrading of Jules Quesnel and the threatened closure of Queen Elizabeth Annex there has never been a more impelling reason to get involved. The EFR report will go before Committee III of the VSB on Mar 11. Please distribute this information to as many parents from our elementary feeder schools as possible.

*AGENDA*

1. Approve Minutes of Chapter AGM (May 17, 2007) http://www.geocities.com/cpfvancouver/cpf- vancouver-meeting-minutes-2007-may-17.htm

2. Adopt Agenda

Elyn Dobbs, Chapter Support/Outreach Coordinator, CPF BC&Yukon Branch Office:

"Overview of CPF - who are we, what do we do, how do we support learning opportunities for students through our network of volunteers."

4. Finances (Debra Dawes) Current financial statement (To date for fiscal year April 1, 2007- March 31, 2008)

5. Discussion
The CPF Vancouver Chapter has a long history of dedicated volunteers who have supported learning opportunities for students, French Immersion programs and a network of information and resources for parents. Sadly, in the past couple of years, there have been fewer volunteers stepping forward to take on the traditional roles. This has led to there being no functioning Executive, and minimal efforts to carry on activity at the Chapter level. There has been no CPF representation at the VSB Modern Languages Advisory Committee for quite a while. The CPF BC & Yukon Branch Office has for some time recognized the Vancouver Chapter as "Inactive" and has not funded the Chapter.

The purpose of this very important meeting is for Vancouver members of CPF to discuss the future of the Chapter: a general vision of how CPF in Vancouver can best serve the students, parents and French programs throughout the city. What are the most immediate priorities, and how can we move forward in a way that is manageable and sustainable.

6. Motions for consideration

* *** *TO DISSOLVE* the existing CPF Vancouver structure and close the bank account.

* * *TO AGREE TO FORM* three local CPF Vancouver Sections organized around the secondary schools' families of feeder schools (see below), each with their own Executive, bank account, and signingofficers.
