Happy New Year! We hope you had a restful and fun
holiday.
We have a busy year ahead of us at Kitsilano
School. We will soon be
publishing a new Dial a Demon with more than 100 new entries. In the next PAC
meeting on January 21st, we hope to elect a new chair,
someone has already voluntereed for the position!
We will also start addressing the issues involved in the renewal process at
our school. We will be posting minutes and updates on the enews
so stay tuned!

A letter
from Mr. McLaren, Head of the Science Department at
Kits School
Dear PAC,
On behalf of the Kits Science Department, I would like to thank PAC
and Kits alumni for their support of the Science Fair. The addition of the
PAC award allowed us to recognize the efforts of more students and also
increased the positive interractions for students
who were at the fair but who were not among the top 25 projects. Thanks to
all involved and special thanks to Philip Edgcumbe for rounding up volunteers
to come to the fair to judge the projects. The efforts of everyone were much
appreciated.

At
absolutely no extra cost to you, you can easily help the Parent Advisory
Committee (PAC) raise money for the school by using gift certificates/ cards
from a large variety of stores to do your everyday shopping. PAC purchases
paper certificates and plastic cards from large, well known retailers at a
discount. PAC resells the certificates and cards to you at face value and the
PAC keeps the difference as a fundraiser. The more families participate,
the more money gets raised.
December Profits: Seventeen parents participated resulting in a profit of
$ 285.00.
We do have a few more than 17 families in our school though! Try out this
easy fundraising program for the few years your child is at Kits. It has
great potential.
For January orders:
Since the first Monday this month was the first day back at school, we are
extending the deadline to Thursday January 10th.
Please drop your order and cheque to the school
accountant. If you are unable to do this due to short notice, I would be
happy to take your order over the phone (604-737-4336).
Regular monthly ordering deadlines will resume in February and will be the
first Monday of every month.
