November
Elections for KitsPAC Chair position
|
|

|
We will be
holding elections for the position of PAC chair (or co chair) and Secretary
of KitsPAC at the November PAC meeting.
To date we have a volunteer for the Secretary position. However, we are still
looking for a Chair. Please consider who among your acquaintance might be
interested in this position and encourage them to step forward.
Ingrid and Wendy let it be known last year that they wished to step down at
the AGM in May. However, no one stepped forward to volunteer to take on this
job at that time. We determined that it was important to stay on until the
gaming funds were received as we need a functioning PAC in order to
receive the funds.
Our own kids will be graduating from the school at the end of this year so
we will not be around after June but until then we can help if needed.
We have drawn up the following job description:
Job duties PAC chair (or co chair)
· Plan PAC meetings (6 per year as per our constitution) / plan and schedule
Exec meetings (usually have one before the PAC meeting)
· Draw up agenda
· Run meetings
· Delegate jobs that have been identified that need doing at the meeting
· Work with staff in office around the housekeeping issues each month (AnnaLisa Brno accountant / Betty Thun
executive secretary)
· Issues that need attention ie talk to principal
or run past Executive, determine who needs to address the issue under
discussion and meet or email the appropriate person as determined
Time allocation - Bits of time through the month
· May each year - let the VP (Mr Mesich)
know what the PAC meeting dates are for next year (after consultation with
the Exec - by tradition 3rd week of the month alternate Tues and Wed but
sometimes Easter or a school theatre production forces a change) Plan PAC
Exec meetings (to occur before the PAC meeting)
· Plan AGM and get volunteers to fill positions
· School Planning Council identify replacement delegate(s) for next year. One
position will be open to replace Ingrid. These are elected positions
· School Growth Planning Day If you consider this a worthwhile endeavour for PAC, continue to identify parent
participants and work with principal to ensure places on the day for parents
Time allocation - Bits of time through the year
Teachers Wish List - Ingrid and Wendy will take this on for the rest
of the year. This is probably the most time consuming part of the job but is
also the most rewarding. In future, PAC might consider having someone (Past
Chair?) take it on as a single job. We tend to think of it as playing Santa
Claus. It has a huge satisfaction component to it.
June ask principal to send a notice to teachers with the request form
for what they would want next year. There are 2 sources of income for PAC. Gaming funds have amounted to approximately
$30,000. KitsNOW! Campaign generates donations from
parents which are tax deductable (varies). Sept ask
again through the principal's daily bulletin to staff. Set a deadline. This
year it was October which gives teachers lots of time to buy things and our
Treasurer time to process the bills as they come in. The later it is the
harder her job as she has to run around in May/June.
· Meet with principal to go over Wish List. Also meet with Exec or a working
group of interested parents. Then draw up a tentative proposal for
consideration by the PAC Exec. If the Exec approves it - then take it to the
PAC (Oct or Nov)
· Send out letters or talk to teachers advising them yes or no
Time allocation - 2 / 3 meetings at the start of the year plus time to
draw up the report for the Exec and PAC to consider. Follow up with teachers
throughout the year to ensure they have ordered/received their requests.
Follow up with Treasurer to ensure cheques etc are
in order.

to you.
We will have 3 printings of the Dial this year and hope that each edition
will be greatly expanded from the earlier ones.

changing, this PAC publication for Kits parents can
be extremely useful.

after school from 3:15- 4:00pm in the lobby near the Front Door of the

parents who we can contact about being in the Dial, you'll receive a FREE
copy of the December and Spring updated issues!
Copies will also continue to be sold at the PAC meetings for $.50, and if
