School Growth Planning Day - Reminder

Parents are invited to attend the School Growth Planning Day on Friday 30 March 2007, 8:45 am - 3 pm at the Marine Drive Golf Club.

All schools are required to produce a School Growth Plan annually. This plan identifies areas where the school is doing "well" and those areas which need improvement and every department identifies its goals depending on where it feels it can improve.

The focus of this year's School Growth Plan has been on literacy and numeracy and we took as our theme "Respect" from the words of our school motto.

Parents get an opportunity to speak to teachers in a casual environment and listen as groups of teachers identify some of the issues they face in the school. Participants at last year's event came away with a much enhanced appreciation of how the school runs.

This event would be of interest to those parents of younger students as the decisions that are made at this meeting affect what happens at the school for the following year.

This is an all day event but we recognize that some of you can only make the particularly useful morning session and lunch.

Last year 12 parents were able to participate. If you would like to attend, please send an email ASAP to Wendy Massing at gmassing@telus.net

The production is FREE (or by donation) It is a sophisticated and witty theatrical production about life and depression.

This is a great opportunity for parents and kids to learn about this subject together in a safe environment.

PAC's Grocery Certificates

At absolutely no extra cost to you, you can easily help our Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) raise money for the school by using gift certificates/ cards from a large variety of merchants to do your everyday shopping.

PAC purchases paper certificates and plastic cards from large, well known retailers at a discount. PAC resells the certificates and cards to you at face value and the PAC keeps the difference as a fundraiser.

The more families participate, the more money gets raised.

Deadline is the first Monday of every month. Download the order form from the Kits school website: http://kitsilano.vsb. bc.ca Click on “Parents” on the left hand side. Then click on Kits grocery certificates.
