Ingrid welcomed parents on behalf of the PAC

 

03.02

Minutes 02 were approved with the following corrections:

Budget for new construction for KSS is 35mill, seismic up grade budget is $38 mill (Note: On January 16, 2008 Henry Ahking VSB confirmed the budget as 65mill for a new building and 78mill for seismic upgrade only)

 

03.03

Pac gaming money:

Motion tabled and unanimously approved that:

Additional $6,555.72 will be distributed from the gaming fund as outlined in the revised teacher wish list 2007/08

The PAC thanked the outgoing co-chairs Ingrid Bjerkelund and Wendy Massing for there tremendous contribution to the Kitsilano Secondary School.

 

03.05

Elections:

Nobody volunteered to assume the chairs position.

Thomas Winkler was elected as secretary.

The Board consists of:

Motion tabled by Lesley Wright seconded by Mali Kalsar was unanimously approved that:

Marina Niks and Jacqueline Stoeckler will have signing authority.

Cheryl Hoover, home economics’ teacher thanked PAC for the funds for the gingerbread house that will be displayed at the Hyatt.

 

 

 

 

03.08

Kelly Noonan  (School Nurse) introduced her involvement with KSS mentioning the youth clinic and the immunization program.

 

03.09

Jean Fougere intervention specialist gave a passionate talk about his commitment to the student. He emphasized that teenager should be listen to and boundaries set. Goals and a vision are important elements for students.

November 29, 2007 a blanket and cloth drive will be held and delivered to the downtown east side by students on December 03, 2007.

 

03.10

Principal Report:

Alex Grant  Principal reported about the school activities of Remembrance Day and a very successful Halloween celebration.

Seismic update: Budget see minutes correction 3.02. An open house will be held in January 2008, The school planning is based on 1500 students. Construction start is anticipated to start in January 2010; Project completion January 2012.

Giovanna, the librarian reported on several activities such as real men read, top 10 boy and girls books.

Treasurer Report:

Megan reported that KSS will receive $28020 in gaming funds.

Alex Grant suggested that computer lab requires $30.000 per year to have up-to-date computer hardware. He also would like to see the scholar ship fund increased from $120.000 to $300.000 to honor 50 students with a 86% GPA.
