Surrey Voice is in favour of more access across the river.  We are not in favour of twinning the Port Mann Bridge is the bottleneck both to and after the twinned bridge cannot be solved.

Surrey Voice is in favour of a NEW BRIDGE, that will divert traffic from No. 1 Highway via Maple Rdige or other alternative locations.

Property crime is a huge concern of Surrey Voice.  We are advocating for increase of policemen and policing on foot at parkades, high density neighbourhoods. Block watch volunteers to have funding to have dedicated direct hot line access to emergencies.

Development is a double edge sword.  It is needed for a whole host of reasons.  My view is I would like to maintain the buidable area to that of 1980’s, where the minimum single family lot is 7,000 – 8000 sq tt, instead of the sprawling lots of ½ that size.  The present situation has encouraged congestions in neighbourhood, and traffic.  Secondary suites add on problems to the already very high occupancy density in all neightbourhoods.  A drive at night will see all the extra cars parked on driveways and roads.  As council I am opposed to excessive development of townhouses and new subdivisions being approved break neck speed – unitl we have the planning and infrastructure in placed – namely school (class sizes), roads, public transport system improved and other public amenities – hospitals, rec centres, and libraries.

I would advocate for more police force for Surrey .  I want the number of policemen in Surrey to be in the ratio equivalent to that of Vancouver 1 police: 500 residents.  At present Surrey ’s ration is 1 police: 750 residents, this is unacceptable.  I would also advocate for funding to block watch volunteers – to have direct hot lines to the police.

Soup kitches must be supported.  With respect to social housing – I would like to have co-op housing where residents pay minimal rent – and be self administered and maintained.  This would create an atmosphere  of self reliance and pride.  But importantly, homeless people are homeless for a reason, and I think to address the root of the problems will require a study of the social structure from education, job situations in Surrey, background, drugs and many others.

I am oppose to gambling and in no way will I support casinos in Surrey .  I have 1st hand knowledge of what gambling does to individuals, family and friends.  I think the City can find funds from other avenues other than casinos.
