A Guide to Open Access
Environmental & Occupational Health Resources
About This Guide
This website was prepared in partial fulfilment of the requirements of the UBC School of Library, Archival and Information Studies course LIBR559k: Open Access.
It was developed to provide a guide to the Open Access (OA) resources that are available for the environmental health and occupational health fields. Although it is assumed that people visiting the site will be familiar with these fields, a brief overview of what they involve and how they interlink with each other, as well as with public health, are provided in the page ‘Introduction to Environmental Health and Occupational Health’. An overview of what the term ‘Open Access’ (OA) refers to is provided in the page ‘Introduction to Open Access’.
The focus of this site is to provide lists of relevant open access journals, directories and repositories. In addition, it was decided to include a page listing a few directories of other web-based resources relevant to these fields. In each page, descriptions are provided of the listed resources. These are largely verbatim (albeit often abridged) from the descriptions given at the journal or resource's home page and related pages.
Although this site is only intended to deal with Environmental Health (EH) and Occupational Health (OH), both of these fields are divisions of Public Health (PH), and as such EH and OH research articles commonly appear in PH journals. For this reason listings of some general OA Public Health journals and directories are also provided. The decisions of which ones to include or exclude was entirely subjective, and the list of OA public health resources was not intended to be exhaustive.
This website is divided up into the following pages:
