At the heart of our redemption is the love of God in Christ once offered, and always present, in the sacrifice of the Mass. Week by week and month by month, writes Father Gregory Dix, "across the parishes of Christendom, the pastors have done this to make, establish and enliven the holy common people of God".
Over many years the living saints of the church at St Stephen's Church, an Anglo-Catholic community within the Anglican Diocese of Edmonton, have gathered week by week to celebrate the mystery. Around the altar "with angels and archangels and all the company of heaven", with past priests and worshippers the bread of life has nourished the triumphant Church on earth.
The casual visitor to St Stephen's is left in no doubt as to what is central in this lovely church: the worship of Almighty God. All of our focus and being centres on the lifting up of prayer and praise and intercession for our community and this world. Here also the sorrowful have found solace, the sinner found peace and new life, and the enquirer, faith.
For those who seek meaning and comfort in their lives, lives thrown and tossed by the "changes and chances of this fleeting world" come and join us and receive the "peace that passeth all understanding" that is present in Our Lord Jesus Christ.
