Nightmare
Of Mouse, Strongin’s first full-length book, was published by L’Epervier
Press in 1977. Its 60 poems are organized into four sections.
The first
section explores the experience of a medical crisis from several points
of view: the physician’s, the patient’s, and the patient’s teacher.
The second
sections brings together a number of miscellaneous poems, including several
which were originally published in major anthologies.
The third
section provides a dark take on Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland.
The fourth
section is a suite of poems that explores the meaning of Roethke’s “I study
out a dark similitude.”

book’s Table of Contents and cover
