CATHERINE
M. STEWART ~ BIOGRAPHY
Born and raised in Windsor, Ontario, Catherine Mary Stewart currently lives and works as an artist in Vancouver, BC. She earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of British Columbia. Her early exposure to science and mathematics continues to be an influence that resurfaces in her artistic practice. Her work has won awards and been shown locally, nationally and internationally in group and solo exhibitions. Ms. Stewart?s media of choice are photography and printmaking with a special interest in photo-etching which she has taught at print studios in Vancouver and abroad. The Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences hosted a solo exhibition of Catherine's prints in 2002 and the Glasgow Science Centre, in 2004. Catherine Stewart?s latest solo exhibition, The Colour of Courtship, was shown at Murray Edwards College, University of Cambridge (UK) in conjunction with the Darwin Festival 2009.
