The Glowing Hearts and Kia Kadiri segments of the Olympic Torch Relay Celebration.

    Olympic Torch Relay Celebration
    Friday, October 30, 2009
    Victoria Legislature Lawn

The flame arrived in Victoria from Athens, Greece on October 30, 2009 to begin its Journey across Canada and back to open the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. 125 dancers from STAGES Performing Arts School, students from the community, and 100 Unity Drummers lit up the night in an incredible performance called “Glowing Hearts”.

The segment included performers with lit red umbrellas who formed a glowing heart around First Nations Unity Drummers.  STAGES Dancers in elaborate, Emily Carr inspired bird costumes were lit with white lights, and runners with blue glowing sticks helped to build the excitement as Jeneece Endroff entered the Legislature grounds with the flame. At last, the caldron was lit to music, fanfare and fireworks.

STAGES dancers dressing in all white, stole the show grooving on stage with Victoria Hip Hop artist Kia Kadiri.  The whole performance was a huge success, and the students came away with pride, excitement, and an overwhelming sense of accomplishment.

    the STAGES way…

even the littlest angel can dance

We believe that every child is special and unique.  We recognize that each child learns at his or her own pace.  We recognize that each accomplishment, great or small is important.  We embrace each family’s uniqueness and respect and embrace its dreams.

Our pre-school dance programs encourage your baby, toddler or preschooler and you to explore and delight in movement.  Each class is filled with colour, texture, multi-sensory play and music.  Rhythm, creative movement and appropriate developmental play encourage whole body learning that enhances brain development and stimulates the imagination.

    • Dance provides a link between a child’s play and the more structured requirements of school
    • Dance enhances a child’s physical, intellectual, aesthetic, and social development
    • Dance provides opportunities to develop the imagination
    • Dance encourages co-operation and helps children develop friendships and the appreciation of their own and others’ abilities
    • Dance foster important relationships with sound, music, and auditory and physical patterns.
Help your child discover the joy of self-expression
    through dance!
