Step Three:

Write. Write. Read.

Writing-- You Need A Creative Outlet

Here's the tip: it's best with a pen or pencil - no keyboard!

Start with a letter.  A good old fashioned letter, handwritten, mailed with a stamp.  (Long distance telephone rates have dropped so much in recent years, and combined with the proliferation of e-mail, no one seems to be writing letters anymore.)  There's something special that happens when you put pen to paper.  Most of us know an aunt with a cardboard box filled with old letters, kept under a bed.  I can't imagine years from now someone digging out a cardboard box filled with old e-mails.  Write to a friend.  Write to family member.

Try a poem.   Or, if you play an instrument, write a song.  If you can't see yourself writing a poem or a song, try a short story.  Point is, you need a creative outlet.  Writing is a great healer--don't under-estimate the power of putting words on a page.

Read too.  Read horoscopes.  Read short stories.  Read a novel.  Here's something to get you started--a very short story called The River--or a perspective on long lasting relationships

Write to buy a T-shirt.  Check out these "single word" T-shirts.  It'll be a nice perk when it arrives in the mail.
