Spring weather means it's time, in the Rockies, for ski touring into the alpine. This loop connects the route to Burstall Pass with the Commonwealth Creek valley to the north, via Birdwood and Smuts passes. Here are my two companions, Richard and Phil, following my track as we worked our way up out of the trees, above the meadows that lead to Burstall Pass in the background.
