A Home For Feet
Where do your feet live?

Seriously. Think about it. Feet are important. Dress them up.

Here is part of my footwear collection.

The burgundy boots are made of buttery soft Italian leather.
The brown & cream coloured boots are a recent online purchase from Aldo.
The black & white shoes were made in Montreal.
The white shoes are from Stoneridge (Metrotown store).
And the multi-coloured shoes...I think I bought them in the U.S.

The red strip of leather on these shoes became cracked after a number of years. Since the shoes themselves are irreplaceable I went about trying to find someone who could fix them. I ended up at The Quick Cobbler. Outside the front door was a sandwich board sign that read: "We dominate in rubber and leather." I went in and I was like, um...I just want to get my shoes fixed. ;-) So the cobbler looked them over and he said, "It will be expensive." I replied, "I can't replace these shoes." He just nodded, thought about it, and quoted me $50. I couldn't believe it. Is that all? I thought. If I could even find a pair of shoes like these they would cost at least $300 and probably more. Fifty dollars to fix them seemed like nothing.

He ordered a piece of snakeskin, dyed it to match the original colour, and stitched it in over the existing material in order to maintain the shape of the shoe. His work was impeccable. I was soooo happy as he was the first cobbler who'd even told me he could do it. And I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out.
