The RPK-74 is the squad automatic version of the AK-74. It is fitted with a long, heavy barrel and a bipod. It can accept all standard AK magazines as well as a 100 round drum or its standard 45 round magazine. The RPK-74 is able to quickly lay down accurate suppressive fire. Because of the lighter 5.45x39mm round it fires, the RPK-74 is fairly controllable, especially when the shooter is prone and resting the weapon on the bipod.

The PKM is the modernized version of the venerable PK medium/heavy machinegun. Technically, the PK is considered a medium machinegun because of it's 7.62x51mm caliber, but the long cartridges are powerful enough to make the weapon perform like a heavy machinegun. The PKM is just small enough to be man portable, and though a heavy weight to pack around, the firepower it projects on the battlefield makes it worth the trouble. The PKM can really only be fired effectively from a prone, secured position, but once in place, it is able to hit targets out to almost two kilometers.
