This is not the whole storey, but it should help you get a better idea of what happens when you send us your speedometer for restoration. The speedo is stripped and the body is replated and the new number stamps are added using original S.W. stamps. Everything is taken apart, cleaned and inspected. The number wheels are glass beaded, painted, new decals, and then clear coated. Using our own technique, the seams are invisible. A new brass bushing in the bottom of the frame, if necessary. The gears, magnet, faces etc, are replaced, if needed. All our speedometers are calibrated for accuracy, this is very important. European-made faces (the highest quality found), are used unless a NOS face is specified. We continually strive to improve every detail in our rebuilds. If you send a speedometer for restoration it should be complete and in good shape. If not, and the needle is twisted, and it can be straightened easily, there is no extra charge. But, if it needs replacing, it's extra. If your speedometer has a high mileage and the magnet is shot, it's extra. And so on... Also, depending on which year you are restoring, and if you want NOS parts etc., a rebuild runs $310 to $1000 for NOS restored.
