Literacy Centre Inc.
Who Are We? TLC began operation in 1990. We are a
nonprofit and a registered charitable organization.
We have been honored, over the
years, with several commendations including the 2000 Canada Post Community
Leadership Award. We were highlighted as a model of quality in the
Exemplary Practice in
GOALS:

to recruit and train volunteer
tutors, and trainers, and where necessary, hire persons to coordinate tutoring
activities, teach small group classes, and administer and assist the office.
·
to provide tutoring to
English-speaking adults and youth who wish to improve their literacy skills.
·
to promote community interest in this endeavor
·
to carry on this work without profit.

If you want to learn - Classes and Enrollment NOTE: There
is no charge for classes. |
TLC offers small group
classes with one-on-one assistance.
Classes run for 35 weeks.
Classes for the 2011/12 year
will be held:
Mornings: Tuesdays and Fridays: 9 – 12 p.m.
Afternoons: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays: 12 – 3 p.m.
Evenings: Mondays and Wednesdays 5 – 8 p.m.
Students may enroll for all
of just a few of the classes.
If you want to volunteer -
TLC is training classroom assistants in mid
October. This is a great
opportunity to share your love of reading and
help members of our community.
TLC also has board volunteer opportunities available
in November.
