Southern Alberta Competitive Chess Association Junior Grand Prix

A series of chess tournaments for the not beginning junior chess player.  As a junior player develops, the player needs to :

use a clock

bullet

play with longer time controls

bullet

record the game

This series of events will enable the player to do all of the above in a relaxed but serious environment.  Game control will be game in 45 minutes ( G/45) – that means each player will have 45 minutes to try and win. There will be clocks and players will have to record their games. Before each tournament, at 9:15,  there will be a brief lesson on recording. The tournament will be rated CFC ( Chess Federation of Canada).

Venue:  Calgary Centennial Arena 2390 47th Avenue SW ( just off Crowchild Trail) – upstairs in the boardroom. Full service restaurant on site adjoining the boardroom( or bring a lunch).

 Time : 9:00 - 9:15 AM registration:

$ 10 pre-registered one week before each tournament

$ 45 for all 5 tournaments prepaid by second tournament

 Depending on numbers, two sections may be formed.

Prize Structure: Points will be awarded as follows towards cash and other prizes, including TROPHIES at the end of the 5 tournaments ( to be finalized depending on entries):

Per Tournament :

1st place: 25 points   4th place: 10 points

2nd place: 20 points  5th place: 7 points

3rd place: 15  points  6th-8th place: 5 points

Participation Points: ( for everyone - cumulative and in addition to placement points):
