In
2003, the Sault Ste. Marie Horticultural Society and six partnering
organizations submitted and were successful in receiving funding
from the Ontario Trillium Foundation to establish the Allard Street
Community Garden at 105 Allard Street, on land adjacent to the
Canadian Red Cross Building.
Trillium funding, received by the Sault Ste. Marie horticultural
Society as the
lead organization for the project, has allowed the Collective to
make permanent-site improvements and hire a part-time Garden
Coordinator to provide assistance and support to participating
gardeners and help to manage the site.
This project was
produced with support from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, which
receives annually $100 million of government funding generated
through Ontario's charity casino initiative. |
