AKA Revenge V2

This was a fairly short-lived marker purchase. Not that there was anything wrong with it, I just bought it for the wrong reasons.

While the Revenge looks like an Autococker, there are a few differences (although not enough to avoid a lawsuit with WGP!). The shaft that activates the three-way is internal rather than external, and looks like it’s integrated into the trigger rather that just being inserted into it like a standard cocker trigger. I didn’t get a good enough look at how exactly it operates since I wasn’t brave enough to take it apart. No sense in fixing what isn’t broke. Also because of the design of the mechanism, this marker can not use hinge triggers.

The ball detent system uses a rubber knob similar to a Spyder detent, and is situated on the left side. The cocking rod wasn’t removable and seemed to be attached to the hammer. Again, I didn’t try to take it apart knowing little about this particular marker. Since the cocking rod is fused, the velocity is controlled by the regulator, which was a Sidewinder in this case. Besides for a few other AKA specific parts, the Revenge looks and operates like any other Autococker. What does make the marker stand out is the quality of the AKA name behind it.

Despite having a few battle scars on it showing thorough use, this Revenge V2 worked without any problems and was very smooth. The only reason I sold the marker was as I stated previous, I bought it for the wrong reasons. This marker came up for sale shortly after AKA announced they wouldn’t be making any more Viking’s and Excal’s as a result of their lawsuit with Smart Parts. This marker was selling cheap. A lot less than it should have gone for in a regular market. I dreaded the idea of this marker ending up in the hands of a newbie that wouldn’t appreciate it for the working piece of art it was! Later on as I decided to thin out my collection, this ended up being sold again. At the time I bought it to “rescue it”, when I really didn’t need another marker. Fortunately I found someone else who was familiar with this marker and would be able to take care of it. Rumor has it this particular marker used to belong to a member of the Orlando X-Ball team (and formerly of Avalanche… no not Chris!). My source is trustworthy so it’s a possibility.

Addendum
Jan. 03/10 : Considering the collectability of AKA markers, this is one marker that I wish I would have held on to. I hope it's still out there being used.
