Since graduating from the University of British Columbia, Roy Jonsson has been teaching gardening and landscaping for thirty years and is currently an instructor for VanDusen Botanical Garden and for UBC Botanical Garden. In 1990 he was given an Instructor Excellence Award and in 2000 he won the BCLNA Educator of the Year Award.


In addition to his teaching and consulting he has contributed numerous articles to garden publications and written the gardening column "Sow It Grows" in the North Shore News for the past seventeen years. He has been a member of the Garden Writers Association since 2001.


Roy has also worked in the commercial composting industry and has done a number of local and international projects related to composting and horticulture. He belongs to the British Columbia Landscape and Nursery Association and recently served on the Landscape Standard Committee for the development of green roofs.
