Information
The bay of Stara where the house is located has a long
stone beach with crystal-clear sea. The temperature
of the seawater is around 25° Celsius (77° Fahrenheit)
during summer months, but it may vary daily, depending
on the sea current. This makes the water very pleasant
for swimming, playing or just relaxing all day long.
There are no sharks, jellyfish, or any other sea animals
that can be dangerous in any way, so the pleasure is
completely worry-free. Besides enjoying the warm seawater
it is very nice to take a boat and visit the many beautiful
surrounding areas.

Every bay has something unique and
different to explore and experience, and you may
find it more enjoyable to change your scenery from
time to time. You can also meet other tourists from
all over the Europe and world. The boat can be also
used for recreational purposes if you decide you
would prefer to row instead of using the motor engine. |
| Tennis courts are available in the
bay of Solotisa, which is within 10-15 minutes of
walking or a few minutes by car or boat. Tennis
courts are privately owned and maintained for tourists.

There are a few hiking paths in the
area to explore the island away from the roads of
civilization. All of these paths were used before
by domestic people to walk from village to bays
and vice versa. Today they are still used, but mostly
for fun and recreation. Also, the road can be used
for biking. Mountain bikes are available for rent,
or you can bring your own bikes. Part of the road
is relatively flat, but it inclines toward the village.

|
For children, a convenient play corner is located
by the upper terrace, always on sight and removed
from the road.

Directions
When coming to the island of Hvar, you will most likely
have to pass through the city of Split. Split is the
transit center of Dalmatia. Airport, bus terminals,
train station and ferry docks are all combined in Split.
Split is also the biggest Dalmatian port, both for cargo
and passenger ships. Ferries from Split can take you
all over Croatian coast, as well as to nearby Italy.
There are different ways to come to Split, but you are
strongly advised to come by your own car. Please read
further to understand why. You can also arrive by plane
or other means of transportation, and then rent a car.
There are two ways to reach the island
of Hvar from Split:
| ROUTE ONE: |
|
 |
From Split, you can take a ride along
the coast to the town of Drvenik. In Drvenik, you
will take a 30-minute ferry ride to the island of
Hvar, the town of Sucuraj. From there you will take
an additional 30 minutes to reach Bogomolje. |
| ROUTE
TWO: |
 |
| From Split, you can take a ferry directly to the
island of Hvar. Ferry takes about 2 and half-hours
and it leaves you in the town of Starigrad. From
there you will take a car ride to Bogomolje, which
can take a slightly more than an hour. |
While the second route may seem easier on the first
glance it is recommended that you take the first one.
The roads along the coast are much better and wider
than the ones on the island, and it is nice to see all
the small Mediterranean towns in passing. The road on
the island is very narrow and full of curves which is
why the second route may be longer and more exhausting.
You are free to contact us
about any questions you may have on reaching Split,
Hvar and Bogomolje.
When you arrive on the island, your car is a crucial
part of transportation. While the bus transport system
exists on the island, it is very rare and impractical.
You will need your car for getting food, for visiting
surrounding towns and some scenic sites and for going
out for dinner. There are two gas stations on the island,
and the closest one to Bogomolje is in the city of Jelsa.
Please take note of that before coming - you want to
come with your gas tank full.
