PVR - Puerto Vallarta's international airport is the usual start point for tourists and travelers visiting the South coast of Nayarit. Some helpful information about the airport and leaving to head north can be found on this web site. Highway 200 North crosses over into the state of Nayarit about 2 kilometers from the airport. The time moves back one hour at this point. It moves ahead one hour at this point travelling South - something to keep in mind if you're returning to PVR to catch an airplane. The highway is four lanes til Bucerias where it changes to two lanes and heads uphill winding it's way through the mountains til Lo de Marcos. North from Lo de Marcos the highway passes through farm and fruit orchard land....a very nice drive. Maps
