How we met...
Liz knew Simon for a couple of years because Simon and Liz once worked together at HMV. Liz met Ciara at a joint company Christmas party. Ciara ended up meeting up with Liz later that night at a local bar. After spending some time with Ciara, Liz decided that Ciara would be a good match for her friend Simon. So Liz told Simon about Ciara and invited him over to their place on a Friday night to meet her. Liz didn't tell Ciara anything about Simon and instead just invited her over for Shepard's Pie. When Ciara walked in she realized she was being set up with the guy sitting on the couch. As the night progressed they ventured out to the King West Underground in Toronto and the night got a little bit hazy. But somewhere amidst the rock music and the rye love bloomed and Simon and Ciara have been inseparable ever since.

How we got engaged...
December 27, 2003
Ciara brought Simon home to Calgary for Christmas. One family tradition in the Glendon household is holding a Christmas party. Everyone pitches in to bake and cook tons of food and invites all of their friends. The night was going well and slowly winding down when Ciara noticed Simon outside talking to Jim (her father). Simon had asked Jim to come and talk with him outside and sure enough, asked Jim for Ciara's hand in marriage. Jim only had one stipulation, he wanted them to get married in the Catholic Church. Simon quickly agreed and the two went instead to talk to Jane (Ciara's mother). Simon, Jim, and Jane sat down for a long conversation and afterwards Simon came and found a very suspicious Ciara and took her outside. Bundled up in their winter coats Simon spontaneously got down on one knee and said, "Marry me Ciara, just marry me." And a crying Ciara instantly said, "Yes, Yes!" The two hugged and cried for awhile and then went inside and gathered the family in the living room. Simon then announced that he had asked Jim earlier for Ciara's hand in marriage and had just asked Ciara if she would marry him and she had said yes. Shortly there was champagne and some very interesting kareoke going on and the engagement was toasted. Two days later on their way to Banff, Simon and Ciara stopped into a jewellery shop and chose the ring, an elegant white gold band with a princess cut diamond. Simon slipped it onto Ciara's finger and she hasn't stopped admiring it since.
