Introduction
Signet Engineering Ltd was incorporated in 1983 and is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta.
Signet has provided consulting, design services, and specialized CATV design software to many cable television and telephone companies in Canada, USA and Europe.
Signet has designed hundreds of cable television systems, fiber optics systems, HFC systems, MDU systems, microwave links, UHF broadcast systems and has now developed specialized CATV and FIBER design software.
Design and Consulting
Engineering services include CATV designs for new builds, rebuilds, bandwidth upgrades, MDU designs, headends, architecture modifications and general consulting.
CATV plant designs include full, bi-directional capability, with all system levels (input, output, spigot and end of drop) for each piece of equipment in the plant. These levels are also embedded into the CATV equipment symbols used in the AutoCad based system maps, included with all designs. Designs are done over any required temperature range to ensure full DOC and FCC compliance. Complete materials lists, distortion analysis, CNR analysis and powering designs are also provided. Signet also provides budgeting, tendering, project management, feasibility studies and training services. MDU designs are available using standard CATV cables as well as cable/fiber combinations including Foxcom (2Ghz) fiber designs .
Design Software
The software package ( CATV Design ), which is used for doing CATV and FIBER designs, does all the functions mentioned above, and is now available for purchase. The software package requires Windows ( 3.1, 3.11, NT , '95, '98 or later) and will run on any IBM compatible PC. At least 64 Megs of RAM is recommended. AutoCad 12 or later version is required. Go to the Downloads section to get pricing info, sample designs, pictures of the Design Program screens and other info.
