Horatius Bonar (also known as Horace) was a writer of many well-known hymns including "Here, O My Lord, I See Thee Face to Face (very commonly used at communion services). Merle Enns writes "When I was in Scotland, I talked to a very elderly lady in Muthill, Perthshire (Bonar country, by the way) . I asked Mrs. Milroy if she had ever heard of Horatious Bonar. "Heard of him", she said, "I knew him." Apparently her parents' home was right beside his church in Glasgow when she was a child. They didn't attend there, but she remembered taking her "wee sister" to hear him preach. He was by then a very old man but deeply loved by his people. One other fact I know, from some of his writing when I read long ago, he was deeply concerned about Jewish people and devoted much time to helping them." Parents: James BONAR and Marjory MAITLAND.
