Favourite books: I like a book that leaves me thinking about it for a long time afterwards. The Chrysalids, by John Wyndham, had a huge impact on me when I was a teen.

I still reread it occasionally. Letters From the Inside, by John Marsden is very powerful, so it also ranks up there. In adult books, A Prayer For Owen Meany by John Irving and The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver are among my favourites.

Favourite authors: Robert Cormier and Beth Goobie

Careers: I was a teacher in the 80‘s, a full-time mom and writer in the 90‘s and now I do all three, although the teaching now takes the form of creative writing classes and author visits to schools and libraries.

Pet Peeves: Housework, yard work, and anything else that takes me away from my Pet Passions.

Pet Passions: Writing, reading, and my family (not necessarily in that order.) I also enjoy many kinds of music, browsing at bookstores and libraries, theatre, hiking, yoga, travelling to warm places, and watching my daughters participate in their Pet Passions, like sports, music & dance.

Children: I have three daughters. Although I try not to write about them specifically, they do influence my writing in many ways. The things they say, the predicaments they get into, and their thoughts about life are all ways in which they contribute to my books.

Astrological Sign: I‘m on the cusp between Cancer and Leo. I think that makes me a crabby lion. My daughters might agree with that description but I think it just makes me confused!
