I think pretty much every woman knows that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. And if you have been visiting my site over the past year, you might remember that my good friend, Shelley, was diagnosed with breast cancer last December. I'm happy to report that she has recovered well from her surgery and has completed months of chemotherapy and radiation treatment. She is now working on feeling fit and healthy again. She participated in "A Walk for the Cure" yesterday and today we went for a brisk walk at noon, mapping out the area that my school would take this Friday for our Terry Fox Run. (If you aren't from Canada, you may not know that Terry Fox is a national hero. In fact, he was voted "The Greatest Canadian" by Canadians. You can click on his name to learn more about him and his dream to find a cure for cancer.

When Shelley was first diagnosed, I wanted to make a quilt for her. The result was "Shelley's Hope Quilt". The pattern will be available later this month and all profits will go to Breast Cancer Research.

Here's a sneak peak...

And some close ups...

Don't forget those self-examinations and get a mamogram
