Under the current standard, any road with 4 or more through lanes will have 3 signal heads on the mast arm. The biggest difference between now and earlier assemblies is that the arm doesn't have to be connected to poles on both sides of the road; there was never a signal with 3 through heads on an arm attached to only one pole before this newest design. However, if the road is a one way street, the arm is likely to span between two poles, and there will be an auxiliary 8-8-8 signal on each side.
