Recently there has been a new design used when a traffic light only controls one through lane, not including right-turn lanes. Only one signal head is used on the mast arm, with a double red. It can have the auxiliary signal that goes with a regular assembly, as shown here, or it can have a protected-prohibited left turn signal to control turning traffic (see the Brisebois Dr at Brentwood Rd oddball on the index page).
