I don't think there are very many Style 3 signals that had this as their original configuration, evidenced by the use of a bi-modal arrow. They may have started as protected-permitted signals, but the turn signal was modified to contain a double red. This begs the question as to whether or not inline-6s were ever used, with 2 reds and separate yellow and green arrows. I have memories of seeing an inline-6 in use, but I would have been pretty young at that time, so I can't be sure.
