This is the first signal design in Calgary that used mast arms. Signals were predominantly 8 inches, without backplates (some 12-inch signals did appear, but not very many). Pedestrian signals were text only; I used the symbol graphics in this animation because I was lazy and didn't make graphics of text signals. With this, as well as all other displays on this site, the length of the arm and positioning of the signals depends on the width of the road and how far the pole is from the side of the road.
