This is the oldest design for signals that Calgary has had... at least as far as I can remember, which is the early 1980s. Signals were all 8 inches, no backplates, hung on spanwires in a boxspan configuration. I don't remember the pedestrian signals, but they were probably of the text Dont Walk/Walk variety. As will quickly become apparent, I only have pedestrian signal graphics with the figures so that's what got put here. The last intersection I know of with this configuration (16 Ave @ 6 St NW) was replaced in the early- to mid-90s.
